Holbrook – Petrified Forest
The Petrified Forest National Park is located in northeastern Arizona. The park is part of the Colorado Plateau and the Painted Desert, a desert at about 1,800 m above sea level. In the area are many of petrified wood, hence the name “Petrified Forest”.

Holbrook – Pow Wow Trading Post
The Navajo Trading Post is unfortunately closed today, as are many other shops of the Indians in the area. The sign stands still and gives off a good photo opportunity.

Joseph City – Jack Rabbit Trading Post
1949 opened this trading post, but as this is no longer active, but today it is a famous stop on Route 66. You can buy souvenirs in the shop. This trading post was for Rich Henry’s Rabbit Ranch in Staunton, IL, an inspiring example.

Winslow – Theatre
The Winslow – Theatre shows movies still analog and just collects donations for a digital projector. The cinema is open for films and other events.

“Well I’m standing at a corner in Winslow Arizona”, the Eagles once sang in the song “Take it easy”. Today you really can stand at the Corner in Winslow Arizona. The town bulid a sculpture an a mural. It is a very often vistited Route 66-Attraction.

Seligman – Rusty Bolt Souvenir & Gift Shop
This shop opposite the Canyon Lodge stands out for the mannequins that are on the roof. In front of the shop is an old Chevy, also with two mannequins.

Seligman – Delgadillo’s Route 66 Gift Shop & Visitor Center
With Angel Delgadillo it all began. Angel could not bear that his city was completely cut off from traffic after the completion of Interstate 40. His city was not to die, like so many others at the former Route 66, he founded the Route 66 Association and organized “Fun Run Route 66” to make a attention to the small places that were still on the edge of the road. The former hairdresser cuts now rarely hair in his small shop, which has become by its notoriety for pilgrimage for Route 66 fans.

Hackberry, AZ – General Store
The general store was once called “Mother Lode of Mother Road memorabilia”. There was everything except petrol. The old gas pumps are only for decoration. On the grounds the traveler can look around and finds a collection of old cars, Road Signs, tools, etc. In the store is a snack shop and gift shop. There If you want to buy something and it does not fit in the trunk, they will send the owner by mail even if you live not in the USA.
