Lupton – Allentown – Houck – Sanders – Chambers
You cross the border into Arizona, at Lupton go through under the interstate and then onto South Frontage Road. Drive parallel to I-40 to Allentown. Stay short on the South Frontage Road, then turn right in the Allentown Road. At exit 339 drive on the other side of the Interstate on Frontage Road. The next town is Houck. Drive there on Quenno Road, which is a Dirtroad. When this road ends, you have to drive on I-40, because the Frontage Road goes no further. In Sandersl eave at exit 339 turn left drive the Frontage Road to Chambers.
Holbrook – Joseph City
Then drive after the Fronatge Road ends onto I-40 west. You pass the Petrified Forest. The next town is Holbrook with the famous Wigwam Motel. There, leave the I-40 and follow the I-40 Business Loop. Behind Holbrook follow US-180 toward Flagstaff. Then go onto I-40 West (exit 285). The next town is Joseph City, there leave the I-40 (exit 277). Sequence by the location of the I-40 Business. Behind the village go back to the I-40 West.
Winslow – Twin Arrows – Winona – Flagstaff
In Winslow, leave the I-40 and follow the Business Loop. The turn right, stay on the Business Loop I-40 (I-40B) and follow the SR-87/I-40B. At the end of the village droíve over the I-40, then turn left and go to the next driveway (252) to I-40 West. Stay on I-40 to Winona. Bending there a to the CR-510 West. Follow Townsend Winona Road (CR-510). At the end of the road follow Highway 89 South to Flagstaff. Follow the Business Loop through the town. Flagstaff is worth a longer stay.
Bellemont – Williams
In Flagstaff Route 66 is signposted and is officially called U.S. Highway 66. Follow the road until it meets I-40, go on and leave it again at exit 185, Bellemont, AZ. Bending to the right, then left, and drive on the North Frontage Road further west. Until the Parks the Old 66 is partly a gravel road. Follow the Deer Farm Road,it is a Dirtroad, but good to drive. Follow the road until you unterquerst I-40. Bending then on the Mountain Trail to the right. At the end of the road then follow the I-40 Business Loop to Williams.
Ash Forks – Crookton – Seligman
Behind Williams first follow the Business Loop I-40, then at the ramp 161 onto I-40. Exit I-40 in Ash Forks. (Exit 146). Follow the Business Loop through the town. Behind the village go back briefly to the I-40 to Crookton (exit 139). Bending on the Crookton Road to the right. Roll over the railway line. Follow the U.S. 66, which is again very well signposted. You reach Seligman, the birthplace of Historic Route 66 in Arizona.
