Tucumcari, NM - Blue Swallow Motel

In Glenrio is the state’s border with New Mexico, there drive a Dirtroad to San Jon. Alternatively, you can take the I-40 until exit 356. In San Jon go back to the Frontage Road, left hand side the I-40th. Follow until you get to Tucumcari. In Tucumcari, I advise to an overnight stay. In this beautiful city there are some beautiful motels along Route 66 (Tucumcari Boulevard).

Santa Rosa, NM - Clubcafe

Palomas – Montoya – Newkirk – Cuervo – Santa Rosa
After you leave Tucumcari turn in the South Frontage Road and drive parallel to I-40. Drive under the I-40 and then turn onto North Frontage Road. You reach Montoya. Always drive along the Frontage Road, mostly the I-40 runs parallel sometimes the I-40 is far more far away. You reach Newkirk. Soon after that you reach Cuervo. Drive there on the I-40 and exit at exit 277. You are now in Santa Rosa, NM.

New Mexico - US Highway 84

Las Vegas Junction – Romeoville – Tecolote – Ilfed – Rowe
In Santa Rosa follow the I-40 Business. Behind the railway bridge drive onto I-40 West (exit 273). Stay up to exit 256 on I-40, leave there and follow U.S. 84 to Las Vegas, NM. In Romeoville stay on U.S. 84 until it ends and go left parallel to I-25 on the Frontage Road. In Tecolote Further follow the North Frontage Road, you come to Ilfeld, run over the Pecos River. The Frontage Road here runs in between I-25 and the railroad. In Rowe is the supply station of the Santa Fe Railroad.

Pesco – Glorieta – Canoncito – Santa Fe
Always follow Frontage Road to Pecos, then turn right onto Main Street through Pecos. After crossing under I-25, turn right and follow SR-63. Drive on SR-50, then turn left towards Glorieta and then a right and continue onto I-25. Leave the Interstate on exit 294 and then turn right on Old Las Vegas Highway (U.S. 300). U.S. 300 runs parallel to I-25. You can Santa Fe. In Santa Fe you follow the Old Las Vegas Highway. At the junction of U.S. 466 (Old Pecos Trail) turn right. Stay on SR-466, even if it turns right. In Santa Fe you should see Downtown with the State Capitol. Follow the Route 66 signs on the Shelby Street. Behind the city follow the SR-14

La Cienega – La Bajada Hill – Santo Domingo – Algodones – Bernalillo
On SR-14 drive under the I-25, then turn right onto SR-599 (Vetrerans Memorial Highway). At the next opportunity go left onto South Frontage Road off I-25. In La Cienga go to the other side of I-25 on the Frontage Road. At the driveway 267 drive on Interstate 25. Exit the Interstate at exit 264 to go to La Bajada Hill and Santo Domingo, then follow Highway 16 to the right. This route you can also omit, then just follow the I-25 on to Algodones. Drive just before the village on the Highwhay 313 to the right. Stay on this until Bernalillo.

You do not have to drive the detour via Santa Fe, alternatively always follow the I-40 toward Albuquerque.
